The last recorded words of Jesus to His disciples and the church are found in the first chapter of Acts. And in them Jesus commands His disciples to not leave Jerusalem, but to wait for what the Father had promised- the Holy Spirit. The reason for this command is found in verse 8; the Holy Spirit will empower them to be His witnesses. Recently we've been talking a lot about living a missional life and a life that is Kingdom-driven for the purpose of making an impact. But, in order for us to live in such a way and make an impact we need the third person of the Trinity- the Holy Spirit. In other words, we need God to do the work of God.
