Covid-19

Dear Rooftop family,

Greetings to you. As many are now aware, we are entering into a period of uncertainty and possible concern given COVID-19. Like myself, I imagine many of you are processing a lot of information, while seeking how best to be both a Christian and good citizen of society. After much prayer and consultation with our board, I would like to inform you of some precautionary measures that we will be taking at Rooftop Church for the time being. After reviewing all available information from both state and local health officials, the board and I discerned that our priority should lie in doing whatever we can to slow the spread of the virus. As a result, we have made the following decisions until further notice.

Sunday Services:

  • Streaming Sunday service: we are moving our Sunday services online. We encourage you to join us every Sunday online via our YouTube channel (Rooftop YouTube) to worship, pray, listen to the message, and encourage one another. Although physically apart, I believe we can still be one as we join in worship online.

  • Children’s Service: the Children’s Ministry does not currently anticipate streaming a service for the children. Instead, CM staff will lead children’s services over Zoom as well as share various resources to allow parents to teach the Sunday School lesson at home.

  • Offering: for those that are committed to giving, please utilize the online giving platform to do so (Rooftop Online Giving).

Ministry Calendar:

  • We will suspend/pause all in-person ministry related activities and meetings. The staff will communicate to and update the church through Sunday announcements and by email regarding ministry related activities and meetings.

  • Leaders meeting(s) will move to an online platform (e.g., zoom)

Day-to-Day operations:

  • The pastoral staff will adhere to the normal hours of operation, including pastoral appointments. As would be expected, we will ensure that we practice good hygiene and health procedures, including social distancing, increased cleaning, and hand-washing.

We plan to update you as the situation develops. Through God’s help and strength, I pray that our church will be ready to overcome whatever comes our way. Our hearts and prayers go out to those affected by this illness. As your servant leaders, we will continue to pray for discernment and God’s will to be done in all of this. We love you and hope that you make arrangements to join us online this weekend for worship.

Finally, I am reminded of Paul’s words of encouragement to the Philippian church:

Be anxious for nothing, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard you hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
— Philippians 4:6-7

With love & hope,

Rooftop Church
